Growing pains

May 10th, 2011

Hi friends, I’m writing about Vick’s again. Remember that? I’m part of the Vick’s Blogging Brigade ? I was definitely compensated to write these posts but keep in mind that I only agree to these partnerships when it’s a company and/or product that I firmly believe in. So, it’s okay. You can keep reading. No shenanigans here.

I’ve always had growing pains in my legs. When I was little girl climbing trees (and then falling out of them), as a teenager and even now as a Mama to three with one on the way. My legs simply hurt nearly every night.

When I’m pregnant is when this problem is particularly intense because I try to avoid taking Tylenol and I most definitely can’t take an anti-inflammatory, so I’m left lying in bed, unable to sleep because my legs just hurt.

Sometimes, while I’m lying in bed, unable to sleep because my legs just hurt, Anna and Noah will wake up and tell me their legs hurt, so I’ll climb out of bed, legs aching and give them some medicine and a nice little rub and then they fall asleep.

Brian is a busy guy but always obliges when I ask him to rub my legs before bed. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago, when I had a terrible cold, unable to breathe, (again, unable to medicate due to pregnancy!) that I thought to have Brian rub my legs using Vick’s Vapor Rub. Friends, not only did my legs feel so much better, but I could breathe and then? I slept.

The best part? Vick’s Vapor Rub can be used on children ages two and up. So next time they wake up with sad little leg pains? This is what I’ll be reaching for and not the Ibuprofen.

Are you a fan of Vick’s on Facebook? Go. Do. Now. They’re fun to follow.

I’ll be back later this month with a Vick’s giveaway!

Wonderful idea…I will most certainly have to try it, considering I haven’t been able to smell ANYTHING for 5 days. And the idea about using it for muscle pain is intriguing and something else I will be trying as well.

Keeping your friend in my prayers. Hope you have a glorious day!

No way! I always put Vick’s on my boys’ feet when they are sick, but I had never thought of using it on legs. Luke wakes us up a lot because he has growing pains and my legs are always killing me at the end of the day, so I’m definitely going to try this.

My great grandmother used to think the cure for the common cold was to eat Vicks. Yes. I said eat. I don’t recommend it.

Vicks is a handy thing to keep around, we have always had some. I find the best thing when you feel a cold coming on is to rub Vicks into the soles of your feet, put some socks on, just light cotton ones are okay if it is warmer weather and off to bed for the night, a little on your chest is good too to help breathing. I guarntee you will feel a lot better in the morning.
