Hi friends! Did you all have a great weekend? I, um…DID NOT. Friday night, (of course) I started having a really bad toothache. By Saturday morning it was bad, by the afternoon I wanted to shoot my face off. It’s frustrating because it’s the same tooth I had a root canal on a few months ago. UGH!
So, after paging my on-call dentist and being ignored, I drove to the urgent care center where I was put on antibiotics and pain medicine. (but not before the doctor made it perfectly clear that she thinks I’m addicted to pain pills because I was given pain pills when I had a c-section with Clara three months ago. SERIOUSLY.)
Either way, come Saturday night, I was so miserable. If you’ve never had a toothache, it’s not just a little pain, it’s unbearable, throbbing pain that affects your whole face. No distractions work and honestly, even vicodin can’t take the pain away. (so if someone says they have a toothache, don’t think “WIMP.” Think, “oh no, how can I help?” k?)
Anyway.
This is my first week to feature a photo for You Capture! I am so excited to be doing this. Also, you get a sneak peek of the new look of You Capture! You can even update your sidebar button soon!
This week’s featured photo belongs to Pool, Party of 5!
What’s not to love about this photo? The joy, the situation, the editing … it’s perfect!
Will you be next week’s featured photo? Remember, Thursday’s You Capture challenge is “mornings!”
Don’t you think?

That picture is so perfect it almost looked staged!
And, what doctors are these??? During my most recent shoot my face off/I need a root canal pain every dentist, doctor, specialist I saw was writing me a prescription as quick as they could, because of the crazy pain without so much as a complaint from me. PS – It is amazing how at 2am you think dentures would be a nice idea just to guarantee never having that kind of pain again. Hoping relief comes quickly today!
Not staged! When in labor, our doctor asked if my husband wanted to catch the baby. We had no idea that she meant he would ACTUALLY CATCH THE BABY. I will never, ever forget this day and the fun that we had in the delivery room. It was one of the best days of my life.
Of course, we had an amazing friend taking pictures for us. She stood back and captured the entire afternoon.
That picture is AMAZING. If I have another baby, you are moving in with me when I am 8 months pregnant because we can’t chance missing photos during labor.
Also, toothaches are the devil and I’m so sad that you had to deal with one. When I was 8 months pregnant with Luke, I had an emergency root canal. Before the root canal, I was curled in bed sobbing uncontrollably at the pain. A month later, I went on to have a 22 hour drug free labor without shedding so much as a tear. Toothaches are painful beyond measure.
Do it! Every person needs a photographer at their birth. It was so much fun and the pictures are priceless.
I think you’re addicted to pain. I guess I see why. Pain medication works only sparingly, but pain comes through every time. Still, I think it’s time you address this. I’ve been there. I had a repeat root canal on a tooth before. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but looking back on it I regret it. Break the cycle now, Beth. The choice for me: pain free. Learn it, love it, live it.
I have never looked that good (or happy) during labor. Seriously, happy after my babies were born – yes; but, happy right before pushing? No. Kudos to that mom!
If having a baby hurts, then you’re doing it wrong! Bring on the drugs. Just kidding! If natural birth is your thing, more power to you. I just prefer the pain free way.

Sorry about the tooth. UGH.
That photo is PRICELESS!!!
This is so funny!
I didn’t look as happy or pretty…
tooth= suck
that photo??
amazing.
Yay! Thank you for allowing my picture to be the featured photo!! So exciting!
I had an AMAZING doctor that allowed my husband to catch our daughter. We had no idea that she was going to give him the opportunity until I was in labor. I will never, ever forget that day and the amount of fun we had on her birthday. (Our birthday, we have the same birthday!)
Of course, the good drugs make everything better. Hope you are feeling better today.
Thanks again.
Beth, I am so sorry to hear about your tooth pain. The nerve of some doctors to question your intentions….obviously they have never had a toothache…grrrrrrr
I really hope you are feeling better today and enjoy a better week. Any news on what is wrong with your tooth?
The picture is absolutely amazing….OMgosh it is funny and their daughter now has a picture that will for sure be the first one her slideshow at her wedding
Such a great shot. Thanks for sharing.
Take care,
Michelle
A question more than a comment…..I have always wanted to participate in You Capture, but I do not have a blog. Anyway around that?
Hope your tooth is on the mend. Tooth aches are a pain like no other.
Hope by now your tooth is better. I can relate big time to toothache pain. Nothing like it, labor doesn’t even compare to it.
