I didn’t even realize I did it. It wasn’t until Saturday after downloading some photos of the kids did I realize that maybe, just maybe I had taken photos of them for a number of months in a row. Sure enough, I took a peek and saw that every month I did.
Except August. But August doesn’t count because I was tied to my bed and in a boot and in therapy 43,988 hours a week.
Anyway, I realize this isn’t a new idea or anything, people do this often, but it was fun to see how often I drag my children outdoors to take their photos. And it’s funny how cute and pleasant they look. It’s interesting the way you can’t hear the moans and groans (mine) and the whining and crying (them) when I say “hey, friends! let’s take some pictures, khurryshhhh…” or “OMG, JUST LOOK AT ME FOR ONE SECOND, ALL OF YOU OR I WILL DIE.”
or something.
Sometimes I’m all plan-like. “Next Thursday evening at 6:42 when the sun is just-so we are going to head out and take your photo. Here are your outfits, please wash behind your ears and do not drink red icees the day of, thank you.”
But sometimes, I’m all slick-like. This past Saturday was one of those times. I gave everyone their outfits and I was like “hey, let’s get Eli’s haircut and go out to lunch. Here are your (TOTALLY PLANNED OUT) outfits! HOORAY!”
We drove for 14 seconds to the end of the neighborhood and I said “let’s get out and take a photo and we’ll go somewhere extra yummy!” And they did and we did and it was fun, the end. I now have a timeless photo of Clara trying to sit in the wet grass. But still! Pretty!
Anyway. Enjoy these sweet little faces.

These are really beautiful photos of your kids. Do you have them up framed on your walls?
Noah has such a great smile, but even better, so much more with his eyes.
I can’t believe how big they all have gotten already.
Super cute.
Adorable children! Beautiful pictures!! I’m jealous! And love that you posted again
Your sharing of how it really is to get great photos of children amuses me. Even though I only have two, it’s a similar battle. My kids are 6 and 8, and over the past couple of months they’ve gotten better with helping me to get great shots of them. I’ve outright told them, “The sooner you BOTH look at the camera and BOTH smile, the sooner we can go do something else!”. And yes, I bribe with yummy treats.
Gorgeous photos. <3
I am so glad you are posting again
. Thanks for these beautiful pictures of your beautiful family.
What a great idea! Lovely photos and lovely kids!
Dang those are cute kids. Anna and Noah are definintely not my little preschoolers anymore though.
Such beautiful little faces! Thanks for sharing.
So wonderful so see them each month. I really wish I had been more interested in photography (instead of always working) when my son was growing up. You really will cherish these forever.
Oh gosh yes, they sure are cute! These are wonderful.
