Pieces.

February 9th, 2011

I’m back to feeling like I don’t really have much to say and so why should I come here and tell you guys unimportant details about my life, so I’m not so inspired to stop in. But now that I’m here, I can think of 429 things I want to share with you, so, being a democratic blog, I’ll let you all decide:

Do you want me to tell you about the photography workshop I’m attending in two weeks? (details will be limited because that’s just the way I am but still…I am dying that it’s almost here.)

Do you want to hear how my 8 year old daughter hurt my feelings last night and how last week she said “sex” and this morning she said “bitch” and how scared out of my mind I am to be raising a daughter? (which will undoubtedly turn into a post begging parents to either A. watch their language around their children or B. if you must use these words in front of your children, please stress to them that these are words only adults use…)

Should I tell you how I gave Anna and Noah Rice Krispies today, for their first time and I was like “listen! SNAP! CRACKLE! POP! ooooh” and they were like “yeah but it still tastes like sand.” And I realized what a simple child I was.

Would you rather hear about how my husband spoiled me on my birthday shopping trip on Saturday and see my goodies from Anthro?

or would you prefer I shut my mouth and show you some newborn photos from my session on Monday?

Seriously.

You decide.

Come again.

January 31st, 2011

I wanted to stop in to tell you all a few things:

First: today is the last day to receive 20% off at Clickin’ Moms. So, you best hurry. (code: FRIEND) (oh and they just announced the workshops for February…two of which I have taken and completely recommend!)

Second: I am coming back today to celebrate my five year blogging anniversary with you guys…expect some super fun giveaways JUST FOR YOU!

Third: Make sure you eat a cookie today.

Fourth: Take a picture of something you love.

Fifth: Have another cookie.

Be back soon.

Warned

January 19th, 2011

I have to warn you of two things:

First: You Capture will be up tonight. I don’t know when, could be seven, will probably not be, but who knows. It’s Noah’s birthday tomorrow.

Second warning: I interview my kids every year, Noah’s interview will be up tomorrow which is why You Capture will be up tonight. I am certain we will all die from all of his old man cuteness. So basically, You Capture up tonight, death by cuteness tomorrow.

See you then.

(for an insanely cute read, here’s a link to last year’s interview.)

Downward dog

January 18th, 2011

I just took a shower after laying Eli down for a nap.

This is different from my routine, typically I wake up and give the kids breakfast, throw Eli in the exersaucer which has taken permanent residence in my bathroom and I jump in the shower. I get in, do a half ass job at shaving (if I shave at all), wash my hair get out and run around trying to get ready while also getting Anna and Noah ready for school. (wash their faces, fix their hair, test their breath, make sure their morning chores are done…)

We barely make it out the door without me screaming at someone out of pure frustration. I just wish they would plan better. I even say that “Anna, I wish you would plan better!”

Which is funny because LOOK AT HER MOTHER. The grown woman racing around in her around, trying to throw on some mascara, etc, etc.

So, today, I skipped my shower and took it later. This morning was much more pleasant, if I do say so myself.

Since I had a little bit of extra time, however, I was able to uh…look at the current situation of my body which was frightening, to say the least. I suppose it was something that needed to happen sooner or later. The chips ahoy and the double cheeseburgers were landing a little too easily in my hands, normally when I eat like crap I’m totally aware of it and I try to not over do it.

You see, I’m a planner with my greasy food but not so much with anything else. (God, I wish I were kidding.)

Lately, though…food has been extra delicious and totally tempting which was quite obvious by the looks of things today.

I mean, seriously…WOW.

What’s interesting and almost confusing is that lately, I have felt sexier than I have in a long time, so basically, I like me with my clothes on, which is good because well, they’re usually on. (You’re welcome.) And I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight (which wasn’t necessarily great to begin with) but I’m much, let’s see, I’m much “less firm” nowadays.

So, I’m thinking I need to exercise on a more regular basis and by regular basis I mean, exercise for the first time since Eli was born.

Nine months ago.

Here’s my plan and it’s your job to hold me accountable. Which means if I don’t firm up, it’s not my fault. (this is also important because I’ll be in Florida in a few months where it’s not acceptable to wear jeans in a pool, which I will do, if necessary.)

I’m going to start doing yoga. Either at home or in a class.

I’m going to start sharing outfits with you guys on a more regular basis, they inspire me, a lot.

and I’m going to stop eating cookies. COLD TURKEY. See? I mean business.

So, here’s the outfit I put together that inspires me. And those pink flowers? Those are for me, too.

Here’s a picture of Eli and I just few minutes ago…maybe we’ll see some shrinkage in weeks to come.

(this photo makes me look much thinner than I actually am.)

(which is why I posted it.)

Again with the yellow

January 11th, 2011

Back before Eli was born and I was hugely pregnant with a giant baby trying to push himself out of my belly through my belly button, I wrote a post about the color yellow and my new love for it.

Come to find out, nearly ten months later that it wasn’t just a quick fling but a true love affair.

It’s even in my new logo, which is a sign of true love, for sure.

But I keep finding things on the internet and beyond that make me melt, yellows pillows and shirts, yellow candle holders and yellow handbags.

I wanted to share some beautiful yellow with you. You like yellow, right?

This wall art?

a simple yellow coin purse.

and OHMYGOODNESS, this chair:

I super-duper love this dutch oven, although, my kitchen walls are sort of yellow so it wouldn’t work. I’d probably paint my walls for this dutch oven, though.

Speaking of wall color. If I could paint my kitchen walls any color, I’d choose white. No kidding.

This adorable storage bench is on my very long WANT list:

It’s interesting…I love yellow but I do not have much of it. I should probably change that.

I do, however, have this scarf, it’s my favorite winter accessory!

What color do you absolutely LOVE?
