You Capture – Quiet |

To me and probably you, quiet is lack of noise or lack of movement…it is peace.
I ended up absolutely loving this week’s challenge, I could have captured quiet in a million different places, which I think makes me a little bit lucky that I feel that way.
Quiet is the pretty decor that sits on my dresser in my bedroom … day in and day out.

Quiet is my daughter painting … she loves so much to paint. (it keeps her busy.) (it keeps her quiet.)

This morning, I sat by the patio door and listened to the peacefulness of the outside world, the world that we have been missing all winter long. I created and wrote out thank you cards. No music. No TV. Just me and my gratitude and the sound of the eyelet puncher.

and then there is me, in quiet prayer, quiet remembrance, quiet anticipation, in the baby’s room.

Quiet is good.
Now it’s your turn to share.

You Capture – Hopeful |

Hi friends – I hope you had a great week capturing the word “hopeful” in your photographs. I am excited to see some of your entries – it’s sure to invoke some emotion. Speaking of seeing your entries, I wish I could spend an entire day just clicking on your wonderful links and seeing your captures … someday. Maybe.
My first images of “hopeful” I took outside. I love taking outdoor photos but haven’t been able to because it’s SO STUPID COLD and also? I am lazy. I drive by these little guys every single day and yesterday, the sun was out and was able to get these wonderful shots. (from the driver’s seat, of course.)
Why hopeful? Because non-frozen water makes me hopeful for SPRING. Oh, spring, I love you so much.

And these images make me baby hopeful. Do you realize we have like 25 DAYS until we meet this amazing creature. We are so hopeful and beyond happy.
His current home:

his future wardrobe (a small portion of it):

and his sister’s words written at school scream out HOPEFUL to me.

There is my HOPEFUL for this week. I loved this challenge, thank you to Nic for the idea!
Now, it’s your turn to share!
Be sure to read the guidelines and if you play along and your link was deleted, it’s probably because you linked directly to your blog and not your You Capture post, so link carefully, please!

You Capture – Shapes |

The best thing about picking a subject like this? Shapes are everywhere.
So, if you are like me and you wait until the last minute to take your photos, you can go back through the week’s photos and you’ll probably find some shapes.
(that’s what I did, but don’t tell anyone.)
My friends and I went out to dinner last Friday night. It was so beautiful because it was all of us, we can never seem to all get together at the same time, but this night, it just worked and we went to a wonderful restaurant and had so much fun.
The most disturbing part of the night was when Donya ordered sushi AND she was sitting across from me. I know so many of you love sushi but I don’t get it, THE END.
But it made for fun photos, despite the very dimly lit restaurant. And look! SHAPES!

And the following morning, I was able to see my friends AGAIN! At Erin’s son’s birthday party and I took pictures of Sarah Viola’s Asher playing in what he would describe as heaven but what I would describe as SHAPES! (also: CUTE TODDLER!) He and I are best friends forever.

That’s it for me, now it’s your turn to share!

By the way, the winner of the one year of Picnik Premium is WackyMummy! HOORAY! Congrats to you!
As I near the end of my pregnancy, I’m afraid my creative juices are running very, very low. So, rather than picking weekly assignments like “your kitchen table” or “Elbows” I’ve enlisted the help of my friend and creative genius, Nic, from 60 Piggies. (her blog is so happy and fresh and I’m pretty sure she’s going to teach me to sew. Someday.)
Anyway, I asked her for help in coming up with some new assignments and man, did she deliver. So, the next few will be courtesy of her. THANK YOU, NIC!
I present to you:

HOPEFUL.
Have fun, friends and happy capturing!

I loved this week’s theme. I had so much planned but then I guess, maybe, I forgot? I have no idea. No excuses.
Luckily, I did catch my sister loving on her baby, Trey. It wasn’t until after I had taken it and downloaded these photos that I thought “YES! KISSES! YOU CAPTURE!”
See what I good planner I am?

Oh they are so sweet.
And here is my sweet kissing my other sweet. Hilariously, Anna loves to kiss my belly, sometimes too much. So, tonight when I told her that I needed her to kiss my belly, we were in my room where the lighting was cool and dark and well, not easy to shoot and so I had her kissing my belly for so long that she was like “please have Noah kiss your belly! My lips hurt.” Oh, I laughed and then I was like “KISS IT.”
And not one of the shots turned out. (seriously.)
Then she followed me into the bathroom and I asked her to try one more, where the lighting was good (well, not good, just better) and she did and then she looked in the mirror and I am ga ga over this photo. Dang her and her CUTE FACE.

And yes, I realize I resemble Humpty Dumpty. You try to find pants that fit when your belly looks like that, man.
Anyway, now it’s your turn to share your KISSES! And also?
HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO YOU CAPTURE! I can’t believe it’s been a full year already, even more, I can’t believe I haven’t skipped a single week! (I may have commitment issues but we’ll talk about that later, m’kay?)
A GIVEAWAY!
As a thank you, for everyone who participates this week (with a photo taken in the past week) and enters their link into Mr. Linky, you will be entered to win Picnik Premium for one whole year. Picnik Premium is awesome, awesome photo editing software online. It really is incredibly useful and totally easy to use. And no, this is not an ad, I am paying for this with my very own money – that’s how much I enjoy Picnik and it’s also how much I love you. (I do!)
So, it’s your turn to share but PLEASE read the guidelines because if I have to delete your link that would be sad and also that means you won’t be qualified to win. :(
(you can enter your link anytime but if you’re looking to be entered to win, you must have your link in by Friday, 2/19/10 at 10:00 am CST. k? The winner will be announced at next week’s You Capture.)

SHAPES.
Shapes are everywhere – look past the obvious, seek out the unique!
Happy Capturing!
You Capture – Work |
|
February 11, 2010 | Filed Under you capture. | 28 Comments |
So, did you have fun capturing work or was it, you know, work?
Mine wasn’t very fun for me, I really wanted some sunshine to take my photos in but we had the opposite of that until today…after I had taken my photos. But at least we have some sun today. Do you?
My first photo is of my workstation. This is where I work, design, play, eat, sleep, slobber, sneeze, cough, burp, you get the idea. It’s my office.

If you look very closely, you can see crumbs under my laptop which only makes sense because I have a very serious crumb problem. I need help.
Here is my daughter. She is always working on crafts and homework and pretend homework and making messes. She’s very busy.

And speaking of messes – this is my messy coffee table which is just waiting to be cleaned up, which is, of course, WORK. Luckily, Brian and the kids cleaned up while I made dinner. Each of those papers were for me. I’m a very lucky Mama.

I guess that’s it for me! Now it’s your turn to share! Don’t forget to read the guidelines, I deleted like 10 links last week because people were not posting directly to their You Capture post but rather to their blogs. I was a deletin’ fool, which also making me a cryin’ fool because deleting your links makes me sad. (I’m serious.) PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES BEFORE LINKING UP. K?

KISSES.
Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Capturing!
