You Capture | An animal

November 12th, 2012

Hi there, friends.

Another week with only You Capture posts. I’m so sorry. Soon other topics will surface here. I just know it. (this is true, right?)

I’ve always known that I should try “animals” as my challenge but always hesitated because we just don’t have any animals but I thought “it’s a challenge, so I’ll make it one for me, too.”

As of yesterday, I saw no animals.

LUCKILY, I locked my studio keys inside my studio so I had to drive out to my landlady’s home and get a her keys when I saw, you guessed it, SWANS! (see? Getting old totally pays off.)

Then, I saw a deer.

Believe me, I was starting to feel like a National Geographic photographer after spotting so many animals.

Okay, so maybe this isn’t a real deer. BUT, I did see a real one but those suckers are fast and rather leap-y. Plus, I was holding a coffee. Leave me alone.

And you guys know how I love birds, right? Especially two birds? Ugh. I love them so much. These two are perched lovingly in Clara’s room. I decided to photograph them. And then I decided to photograph them from two different angles. I always recommend shooting from different angles. It’s amazing the different results you get. (try it. Always.)

That’s enough tom foolery from me. Now it’s YOUR turn!

You Capture | Weekly Favorites

November 5th, 2012

Hi friends. I’m so sorry I haven’t been around my blog lately. Home life and work life have been so incredibly busy. I’m hopeful that things are taking a turn and I’ll be able to come around here more often, I really miss writing here.

But.

For now.

I have a lot of favorite photos to share with you from this past week.

Here’s a favorite photo of my Dad. This was taken less than an hour after retiring. He’s worked at the same place for 45 years. Amazing. (my Mom wrote an awesome post about it here.) (and in case you didn’t know, I specialize in drawing stick figures, thankyouverymuch.)

Here’s Clara’s sweet chubby hand reaching for her breakfast. She loves breakfast. And all food.

And our sweet babies on Halloween. (greek goddess, ninja, a ghost and a pumpkin.)

We had family photos done this past weekend. I snagged a shot of my babies before we started. I love them so.

Okay and one more of Clara in the tub last night. She’s so feminine.

You Capture | Fruits + Vegetables

October 29th, 2012

Hi everyone.

Okay, so maybe fruits and vegetables was a little boring. Perhaps pumpkin spiced lattes would be better? or pumpkin scones? or pumpkin donuts or apple cider? Something fallish, right? Well, yeah. That would have been too easy. Right?

So, I hope you were able to find some fruits and veggies. I actually had the stomach flu last week and it took me a long, long LOOOONG time to get back to health. (don’t worry, I ate like it was my job today, so I’m officially back to normal.) Anyway, I wasn’t necessarily surrounded by fruits and veggies. Just saltines and sprite.

But I managed, as always. Here are my shots for this challenge.

Wait. Are pumpkins a vegetable? Help me out here.

And some strawberries. In the CUTEST BOWL EVER. I bought this bowl in the most amazing shop in the history of any place ever. No really. I’m serious. It’s such a great shop that it makes not want to share where it’s at or it’s name, but you know. I can’t do that. *cough*

You Capture | A smile

October 22nd, 2012

Hi friends.

What a FUN challenge for this week. We can hopefully assume that when there is a smile there is also a little bit of fun, right?
Work has been so busy lately but luckily, my work involves
a. cute people
b. smiles
c. GAH.

Hamstra WM 8669

Luckily, I was able to take some time to photograph my own kids. (I even did a bit of a session with them last night, it’s pretty much a nightmare being both the photographer AND the mom, not just for prepping purposes but the actually shots themselves. I knew this ahead of time but I needed to work on a project for BFP.)  (Needless to say, we are getting our photos taken professionally in a few weeks because OHMYGOD.) (BTW, the children above belong to another photographer. True story!) (I have an idea, let’s play a drinking game, every time Beth uses a parenthesis, DRINK!) (WHEEEEE!!!)

Anyway. Here are some non-session shots. Anna and Eli played play-doh together. It was a favorite moment for all of us. (especially me because it makes my heart explodes into 4,212,078 pieces. I counted.) (DRINK!)

Who is this grown-up child?

My Eli has the sweetest smile ever seen.

You Capture | Fall

October 15th, 2012

Hi friends. I hope you guys had a good time capturing fall. I hope that even you folks in the warmer parts of the world could find some fall, too. Around here, when it’s not raining, cold or blow-your-face-off windy, everything is just BEAUTIFUL.

I have been insanely busy with work – so my fall photos have been filled with people. Like here:

And these guys are on my front porch. I love stacking my pumpkins and gourds. So fun.
